It seems that more and more of our clients are transforming their gardens and really utilising the space for things such as garden offices and outdoor bars. Without garden power this would not be possible. Let’s talk about the benefits of garden power and I will also show you some of the garden power projects we have worked on in and around Maidstone.

Benefits of garden power

The possibilities are endless when it comes to garden power!  Just imagine not having to run an extension lead from your kitchen to use your lawnmower or strimmer, or maybe have power in your potting shed to allow you to harvest those bulbs.

Working from home is still as popular as it was during lockdowns, during the restrictions businesses found they got more out of their workforce when working from home was an option.  Many people now permanently work from home and have office sets ups in their gardens to give the divide between home and work.  We have worked on a number of home offices throughout Kent and are experts when it comes to garden power in Maidstone.

Garden Power Sockets

There are several types of sockets specifically designed for outdoor use, this ensures safety and protection against the elements. Here at PBA Electrical & Renewables we install weatherproof sockets, IP66- rated sockets and RCD protected sockets.

Weatherproof sockets are designed to withstand rain, snow and other outdoor conditions, while IP66-rated sockets provide a higher level of protection against dust and water ingress.  RCD protected sockets have built in residual current devices to prevent electric shocks in case of fault.  It’s important to have the right type of outdoor socket based on the specific requirements and location of the outdoor area where it will be installed.  Our team will of course run you through all the options when we meet you to discuss your garden power project in Maidstone.

Garden Power in Kent

A small selection of our garden power projects:

Sittingbourne, Kent

A returning client had the opportunity to work from home full time but needed a space away from the home. They had a purpose-built office and we were tasked with running 70m of SWA cable through ducting in the garden, internet, telephone line power sockets and lighting.  Once completed this really was an impressive space with a fully functional office fit for the important role they play.

Aylesford, Kent

If you have read my other blog for Garden lighting this project in Aylesford included 2 x double sockets for the garden area.  This elegant garden requires the owners to mow and then of course enjoy the summer evenings, so the addition of sockets has made life that little bit easier when it comes to mowing the lawns and feeds into the garden shed.

Potting shed power in Downswood, Kent

Our returning client asked us to look at their potting shed that had no power or lighting.  With the power they are now able to enjoy pottering about listening to the radio in the summer evenings an even make a brew whilst tending to their plants.  Here we used some cable trunking to hide the cables and installed 2 x double sockets.
